We're calling all USO alumni to join us for a livestream watch party during the USO's December concert! You can join us from your location to watch a concert with a special twist — a UChicago alum as guest conductor! There will be interactive games, a chance to win UChicago swag, and the opportunity to connect with other alumni and orchestra friends.
Spotlight Dvořák
Guest conductor and USO alum Zachary Glick leads the orchestra in Antonín Dvořák’s evocative tone poem The Wood Dove, Op. 110, one of four works inspired by Karel Erben’s collection of folk ballads. Music Director Barbara Schubert frames the concert with Claude Debussy’s exquisite Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, an exemplar of Impressionist style, and Dvořák’s skillfully crafted Symphony No. 6 in D Major, Op. 60, a work that displays echoes of Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 as well as hallmarks of Dvořák’s newly-solidified mature style.
