About
I am passionate about American Black music history and historiography, particularly in twentieth-century urban centers. My current project centers the musical networks, spaces, and voices of the Great Migration within the urban north. I am inspired by scholars such as Eileen Southern and Samuel Floyd, and hope to build on their legacies by making American music history accessible to those who helped shape it. My interests in public musicology have led me to pursue internships at the Library of Congress (2021) and the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center (2022). When I’m not researching, you can find me quilting, reading a novel, or perfecting a new recipe.
