Early Music Ensemble

Craig Trompeter, Director

The Early Music Ensemble is a historically-oriented performance group led by specialist Craig Trompeter, encompassing vocalists and instrumentalists. Ensemble repertoire is drawn from 15th- to 17th-century sources, emphasizing historically-informed performance practices, including reading from original notation, improvisation, and ornamentation. The Early Music Ensemble also provides a forum for undergraduate majors and graduate students in music who wish to explore and activate musical traditions and repertories related to their scholarly research. Participation in the group is open to anyone in the University community with music-reading experience.
